Latisha Johnson Davis, CMP

Guided on a predestined path, Latisha Johnson brings an unrelenting commitment and passion to the work of strengthening and rebuilding our far eastside community. She founded MECCA because she realized how critical it was to our development future that every resident’s voice counted in the creation of a global vision for all three neighborhoods. Working with sustainability in mind, Latisha engages neighbors, business owners, and community partners in producing their own solutions, while strategizing on how to effectively implement their ideas. Every day, she knocks on doors or researches opportunities to propel our community forward. Her creativity, resourcefulness, and natural leadership ability are assets that shine in her role as MECCA’s President.

Before forming MECCA, Latisha began her career in corporate sales, finance, and contract negotiations. She generated millions of dollars in revenue and received several awards for her excellence. Latisha held senior executive roles at Marriott International and Detroit Metro CVB before launching her own consulting business in event planning. She completed a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a focus on finance from the University of Michigan, Dearborn, and holds an international certification as a meeting professional.

Latisha has served in several leadership capacities as a Community Partner (current) for East English Village Preparatory Academy, Treasurer (current) for the Fifth Precinct Police-Community Relations Council, and Board Member of the East English Village Neighborhood Association. She also volunteers for the City of Detroit’s Board of Zoning Appeals, Wayne Metro Community Action Agency Regional Advisory Council, and Wayne State University’s AmeriCorps Urban Safety Program. She is an active member of Third New Hope Church.

Latisha moved to the area over 11 years ago when she purchased a HUD home in East English Village. Despite nearly losing the home due to several mistakes by her realtor, she moved in as planned, felt an instant connection to our community, and made a beautiful home with her wonderful husband and the world’s best teenager. Even though she has a lot less time to enjoy her hobbies, Latisha still loves a good home improvement or decorating project now and then.
